{Mine} Gamer 13th Birthday

I’ve been awfully quiet over here on this space! I am hoping to bring back some more frequent posts, info, party planning and mom life! So many kids here and so little time. Recently we celebrated TWO birthday parties in September. My oldest turned THIRTEEN!! We had a low key get together with friends with some gaming theme on the side! DSC_1951We were inspired by the xbox colors of black and bright green. I played off those colors to create an invitation. My son chose to text the digital image to his friends but I printed a few for grandparents and to save for his memory box.

The simple party table consisted of his cake, some balloons, sugar cookies for eating at the party as well as the favor to take home and a poster designed by me and coming to the shop for instant download soon! After the party he hung the poster in his basement game room. Coming from a teen boy, mom took that one as a compliment!DSC_1954

Some close ups of the cookies made by me. My favorite recipe for sugar cookies is online. You can find it here!

I use wilton royal icing mix for the icing. I have had good luck with it and its easy to use! It comes in powder form and you just add water to the consistency you need! For Chris’ party we used black food gel coloring and red and yellow gel coloring for the cookies as well as Electric Green for the cookies and cupcake icing.

Some of the cookies I wrapped up for the boys to take home and added a simple favor tag and some colored ribbon. I like to use these treat bags for my cookies.

Last but not least Chris picked a delicious cookies and cream ice cream cake from our local Dairy Queen. We dressed it up with a little leftover buttercream icing and this adorable cake topper from Three Crafty Monkeys on Etsy!

The boys at this age were easy to entertain and spent most of the day playing soccer in the backyard and eating pizza! They did spend some time gaming but the weather was perfect and that drew them outside!

Stay tuned for more party ideas when I share my daughter’s 8th birthday party soon!!
